Malibu, one of the premier beach communities in the country is its own city within Los Angeles County. Malibu is divided into two distinct environments. Its Canyon community is comprised of larger estates with panoramic ocean views, horse properties, and is secluded in the mountains. Its Beach community with gorgeous beachfront properties as well as the surrounding neighborhood, seems to have its own way of laid back lifestyle. Malibu is served by the Santa Monica – Malibu Unified School District with several private schools also in the area.
Malibu has a long history which began with being settled by the Chumash Native Americans. There were few roads leading to the area until 1929 when the Pacific Coast Highway was built. The city was incorporated in 1991 into the Malibu we know today.
